Q: What is the PSAT Exam?

Q: What is the PSAT Exam?

A: The PSAT or Preliminary SAT (also known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a test offered one time each fall to provide firsthand practice for the actual SAT while acting as a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship competition. The PSAT can be taken by anybody, but only Juniors may qualify for the Natinoal Merit Scholarship competition. This program is co-sponsored by the College Board and the National Meric Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

The PSAT/NMSQT is offered at Juanita High School during the school day. This test is administered by high schools, not through national test centers.
